In an interview with kaisernetwork.org, Gayle comments on U.S. efforts to fund the global fight against HIV, "I am cautiously optimistic. I think that this has been a very encouraging sign that there has been recent, increased vigor around the discussion of this as an important global issue..."
"This is the first time a report has been done like this that documents not only what the overall funding gaps are but what those funding gaps translate into in terms of gaps in access to prevention interventions on the ground level," Gayle said.
ABOUT THE GLOBAL HIV PREVENTION WORKING GROUP:
The Global HIV Prevention Working Group is an international panel of nearly 40 leading public health

HIV/AIDS that integrates prevention and care. The Working Group was convened in
2002 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Kaiser Family Foundation.
