Leprosy is one of the most feared diseases in the world and one of the most misunderstood. A documentary on PBS tells the remarkable story of how a group of patients, doctors and caring nuns came together -- on a plantation in Louisiana, to create a community that dealt with this public health issue over many decades. "Triumph at Carville" was written and produced by John Wilhelm and Sally Squires. Squires, a syndicated health columnist for the Washington Post who received support for this project while a media fellow at the Kaiser Family Foundation, is interviewed by the Foundation's Jackie Judd. For more information, please visit the National Museum of Health & Medicine's event page.
