With the reauthorization of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) before Congress and a renewed interest in expanding coverage across the country, health coverage for children and the uninsured is on the agenda for state and federal policymakers. Several states have moved forward with proposals to expand insurance coverage for residents and some are utilizing the lessons learned from a decade of experience with SCHIP to inform their plans. The Kaiser Family Foundation's Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured hosts a briefing to highlight states' developments in covering children and families.
