National Public Radio broadcasted a first-person account of the life of a South African teenager with AIDS. 19-year old Thembi Ngubane carried a tape recorder for a year to record her experiences. Her "diary entries" have been edited into a unique and moving "Radio Diary" by Joe Richman, executive producer of "Radio Diaries Productions." Richman 's reporting project was supported by a Kaiser Family Foundation journalism fellowship award.
Thembi's story aired on "All Things Considered" on April 19th. Richman was interviewed by the Kaiser Family Foundation's Jackie Judd.
