Kaiser Family Foundation, The Commonwealth Fund, and Tufts-New England Medical Center release a new survey of seniors in eight states (California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas). Survey addresses variation in available sources of drug coverage, the depth of that coverage and the extent to which seniors are exposed to high out-of-pocket costs. Health Affairs also published an article discussing the report findings.
Speakers include: Dana Gelb Safran Sc.D., lead survey author and director of The Health Institute at Tufts-New England Medical Center, will present the survey findings. White House Council of Economic Advisers Dr. Mark McClellan and AARP Policy and Strategy Director John Rother will discuss the possibilities and challenges of providing prescription drug coverage to seniors from a national level. Thomas Snedden, director of the Pennsylvania Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE), will offer insight into addressing coverage issues at the state level. Diane Rowland, Executive Vice President of the Kaiser Family Foundation and Karen Davis, President of the Commonwealth Fund, will also participate in the briefing.
