Dartmouth Medical School researchers, led by John E. Wennberg, release a study indicating that that regions with high per capita spending do not experience improvements in the quality and efficiency of health care.
The study "Geography and the Debate Over Medicare Reform" includes researchersâ?? recommendations and perspectives from Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Elizabeth J. Fowler, chief health counsel, Senate Committee on Finance; Karen Wolk Feinstein, chair, Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative, president, Jewish Healthcare Foundation; Sen. James Jeffords (I-Vt.); Rep. Nancy Johnson (R-Conn.), and Robert E. Nesse, vice-chair, Mayo Clinic Rochester Board of Governors is published online in Health Affairs.
