View Webcast ( video ) ( transcript ) Jackie Judd, vice president and senior advisor for communications, Kaiser Family Foundation, interviewed Harvey Fineberg M.D., Ph.D. president, Institute of Medicine (IOM), former provost of Harvard University and former dean of the Harvard School of Public Health. The IOM provides advice on biomedical and health issues to policymakers, and has played a prominent role in informing policy debates on the uninsured, medical errors, and HIV/AIDS.   ABOUT HARVEY FINEBERG, M.D., Ph.D. Over the course of his career, Dr. Fineberg's research has focused on the process of health policy development and implementation, assessment of medical technology, evaluation and use of vaccines, and dissemination of medical innovations.  Dr. Fineberg has authored and edited numerous books and articles on topics such as AIDS prevention, tuberculosis control, new medical technology, clinical and public health decision making, as well as the understanding of risk in society.  Before joining the IOM, he served as provost of Harvard University from 1997 to 2001, following 13 years as dean of the Harvard School of Public Health.
