Medicaid & SCHIP
- Medicaid Payments and Enrollment
Medicaid spending and enrollment data have been updated to FY 2005 based on Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured (KCMU) and Urban Institute analysis of the latest Medicaid Statistical Information System (MSIS) files from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Total enrollment by eligibility group – children, adults, elderly, individuals with disabilities – and spending per Medicaid enrollee for FY 2005 are available for all states and the nation. The latest key Medicaid data for each state are also available through our online interactive Medicaid fact sheets.
- Medicaid and SCHIP Eligibility
Updated information from KCMU and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) on income eligibility levels for Medicaid and SCHIP has been added. State-by-state income requirements as of January 2008 are now available for children, pregnant women, and parents in Medicaid and for children in SCHIP.
- Medicaid and SCHIP Enrollment and Renewal Practices
Information from CBPP and KCMU on enrollment and renewal practices for children and pregnant women applying for Medicaid or SCHIP as of January 2008 has also been added. Updated information on asset test requirements, face-to-face interview requirements, the availability of a joint application, and information on states that allow self-declaration of income and presumptive eligibility are now available.
- Medicaid Coverage of Tobacco-Dependence Treatments
The latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Medicaid coverage of tobacco-dependence treatments for 2006 is now available. The status of coverage by type of medication and counseling has been updated for all states.
Medicare
- Total Medicare Beneficiaries
Total enrollment in Medicare as of January 2008 from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is now available for all states and the nation.
- Medicare Advantage
Updated data from Mathematica Policy Research analysis of CMS files on Medicare Advantage (MA) plans are now available. State-by-state data on total MA enrollment, MA penetration, number of MA contracts, average monthly MA payment rates, and MA Special Needs Plan offerings have been updated to 2007 or 2008.
- Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage
Data from CMS on the drug coverage status of Medicare beneficiaries have been updated to January 2008. The total number of beneficiaries with creditable drug coverage, number of beneficiaries by drug coverage type, and the distribution of beneficiaries by coverage type are now available by state.
- Medicare Drug Benefit Low-Income Subsidy
Updated data from CMS on Medicare beneficiaries taking the low-income subsidy have also been updated to January 2008 and are available for all states and the nation.
Demographics and the Economy
- State Budgets
Updated data on total state spending from the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO) are now available for SFY 2006. Data are also available for per capita spending and the distribution of general fund spending, including Medicaid’s share of general fund spending.
