Coverage & Access | Philadelphia Inquirer Series Examines Health Care Delays for Patients Without Health Insurance
[Nov 14, 2008]

The Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday, as part of its series, "Falling Through: Casualties of the Health Insurance Crisis," profiled a woman without health insurance who works temporarily at a physician's office. The woman in May was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma after she discovered a lump in her groin. She underwent a $350 CT scan and a $3,000 surgery to have the cancerous lump removed. The Inquirer reports on the difficulties she faced after the surgery attempting to receive a full-body PET scan to rule out more cancer (Vitez, Philadelphia Inquirer, 11/14).
