The late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan was known as one of America's most eloquent orators. When President Clinton awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom he called her the "most outspoken moral voice" of American politics. Speaking the Truth with Eloquent Thunder introduces readers to some of her most important speeches. Jordan was on the board of trustees of the Kaiser Family Foundation from 1985-1993 and played a key role in the transition to the modern day Kaiser Family Foundation in 1990-1991.
The editor of Eloquent Thunder, Max Sherman, was a colleague of Jordan's in the Texas Senate and at the University of Texas. He was interviewed by the Foundation's Jackie Judd.
Barbara Jordan delivered the keynote speech at the 1976 Democratic National Convention. Here is an excerpt included on the Speaking the Truth with Eloquent Thunder DVD.
